Fox Cam

Into Autumn 2022

As we wave goodbye to 2022 and herald 2023, here's some action from one of our fox clans. An unusual video at the end of video 4 below - spider web at night taking up residence on the camera!

Looking healthy as August heats up the reserve

Bushy tailed

Into the end of September

Hello spider

14th - 20th July

Solitary activity spreading into some playtime towards the end

12th - 14th July

Here we go with the foxes. Looks like the constant ground disturbance has attracted bird life - see from the middle on. Anyone able to identify the birds?

7th - 12th July

Something under the ground near the fence that the foxes are determined to get at

2nd - 4th July 2022

Early July activity from the fox clan - definitely mother and cubs

7th - 8th July 2022

Short footage of activity captured from early evening through to night ...

Here we are with an insight into the lives of our Nature Reserve fox family from the 23rd June through to the 28th June. Looks like a lively few days in the den ....

Early Evening 23 June

23rd June into the Early hours of 24th June

24th June. Over at Fox Cam there is some early morning activity from the birdlife. First one looks like a female blackbird but I'm not 100%. If you know, let us know. Followed by the unmistakable robin.

24th June Early Evening. Here we have our resident fox out in the daylight for some time.

24th into the 25th June

25th June - Lively night this one!

25th June Early hours and then off to bed

Other end of June 25th

And into June 26th - never ending story

To finish off that weekend - short sunning session before bed

22nd June 2022

Rule 101 of wildlife camera positioning is to avoid waving grass, leaves and branches. After wading through many gigabytes of video footage we have identified one of the fox families keeping guard over the Nature Reserve.

While many believe that foxes are a nuisance, they are one of the UK's apex predators. They also help to maintain plant life through distributing seeds via their faeces and fur. Of course, they are also excellent scavengers and help to remove dead and diseased mammals.

You may know that foxes are most active at night. Here's the footage from 22nd and 23rd June. Geo location for this is 51.432907, 0.339445

More to follow .....

Update! On Monday 27th June Dan snapped this charming fellow relaxing near Zone 1. I think he is from the Playground Clan rather than the Reserve.
